How product managers ship changes without an engineer

Product managers have three ways to ship changes without pulling an engineer off the roadmap: edit content in a content tool, turn things on or off with feature flags, or assign the ticket to an AI coding agent like AoTwin, which writes the code change and waits for an engineer to approve it.

Option 1: Content tools

If your team keeps text and images in a content tool (a CMS), you can change that content yourself.

  • Good for: wording, images and pages that already live in the content tool.
  • Limits: anything that lives in the code, such as layout, a new column, a filter or a new screen, still needs a code change.

Option 2: Feature flags

If engineers have already built a change behind a flag, you can turn it on, off, or roll it out to some users.

  • Good for: releasing work that’s already built, and turning it off quickly.
  • Limits: a flag can only switch what was already built. It doesn’t create the change.

Option 3: An AI coding agent in the ticket

For changes that need code, you can assign the ticket to AoTwin, the way you’d assign a teammate.

  • Good for: copy changes, styling and layout fixes, a new column, a filter, simple create-and-edit screens.
  • Limits: an engineer still approves every change. Vague tickets, and anything that needs an engineer’s call, come back to you with the reason.

How it works

  1. Write the ticket in Jira or Linear: which screen, what should change, what done looks like.

  2. Assign it to AoTwin. It replies within seconds.

  3. It reads the ticket and your team’s code. If something is missing, it asks on the ticket.

  4. The change comes back linked to the ticket after it passed your team’s checks. An engineer approves it before anything goes live.

“Without an engineer” doesn’t mean without approval

With AoTwin, you skip the wait, not the review:

  • It never ships or releases. Every change waits for one of your team’s engineers.
  • It never touches code you didn’t connect.
  • One ticket, one change.
  • It never guesses. A vague ticket comes back with what’s missing.
  • A ticket can’t give it orders that break these rules.

Your engineers’ part is small: connect your Jira or Linear workspace and code once, then review what comes back.

FAQ

  • Can a product manager ship a code change without an engineer?

Not entirely. AoTwin can make the code change from your ticket, but an engineer still approves every change before it goes live.

  • What happens if my ticket needs an engineer’s judgment?

It comes back to you with the reason. AoTwin hands back anything that needs an engineer’s call.

  • How much does it cost to try?

Keeping your team’s tickets in AoTwin is free, and the Free plan includes 3 AoTwin tickets once, to see it work. Paid plans start at $39 a month, or $32 a month billed yearly.

  • Can customer reports become tickets automatically?

Yes, on Pro and Team. AoTwin files each report from your Slack channel as a Jira or Linear ticket.
