An AI agent for Jira that fixes tickets

AoTwin is an AI coding agent for Jira: you assign it a ticket like a teammate, and it comes back with a change your engineers can review and approve, or with the reason it stopped. It never merges or releases anything on its own.

What an AI agent for Jira actually does

An AI coding agent for Jira does the work a ticket describes, not just the paperwork around it. With AoTwin, the ticket stays the center of everything. You assign it in Jira, AoTwin replies on the ticket, and the result (a pull request or a reason) comes back linked to that ticket.

It is built for the everyday tickets that wait for weeks: copy changes, styling and layout fixes, a new column, a filter, simple create-and-edit screens. Your engineers stay on the roadmap.

How it works

  1. Assign the ticket to AoTwin. Pick AoTwin as the assignee in Jira, like any teammate. It replies within seconds, so you know it has the ticket, and the ticket moves to In Progress.

  2. It checks the ticket first. It reads the ticket and your team’s code before it changes anything. If something is missing, it asks on the ticket instead of guessing.

  3. It builds and checks. It works on its own branch and runs your repository’s own checks. If a check fails, it tries once more with the error in hand.

  4. Your engineers approve it. The change comes back as one pull request, linked to the ticket. Nothing goes live until an engineer says yes.

Every ticket comes back one of three ways

  • Ready for review: clear, contained work that passed your team’s checks.
  • Ready, with a warning on top: the change works, but part of it needs a careful look. That covers anything touching sign-in, permissions, payments or personal data. Changes to iPhone or Android app screens always come back as drafts.
  • Back to you, with the reason: anything too vague to act on, anything that needs an engineer’s call, and anything that doesn’t pass the team’s checks after a second try.

Which Jira tickets to give it

Start with tickets that say what done looks like:

  • Copy and wording changes
  • Styling and layout fixes
  • A new column or a filter
  • Simple create-and-edit screens

Customer reports can become Jira tickets too. Connect the Slack channel where customers report problems (Pro and Team plans), and AoTwin files each report as a ticket, adding repeat reports to the existing one.

Human approval and safety

These limits hold on every ticket, on every plan:

  • It never merges. Merging and closing pull requests are blocked. Approval stays with your team.
  • It never touches your default branch. No pushes to main and no force-pushes. Every change lands on its own branch, named after the ticket.
  • One ticket, one change. It never bundles changes.
  • It stays where you put it. It only works in the repositories you connect.
  • A ticket can’t give it orders. It treats ticket text as a description of the work, so instructions hidden in a ticket don’t change its rules.
  • Your credentials stay out of reach. The checks it runs get no credentials.

How AoTwin compares to other AI coding agents

AoTwin is built around the ticket. The person who writes the ticket assigns it, AoTwin decides before it codes, questions land on the ticket for the person who asked for the work, and engineers review the finished pull request.

FAQ

  • Can an AI agent for Jira merge code on its own?

Not AoTwin. Merging and closing pull requests are blocked, and it never pushes to your default branch. Every change waits for an engineer’s approval.

  • What does AoTwin need access to?

Your Jira or Linear workspace and the repositories you connect. The checks it runs get no credentials.

  • What happens if a Jira ticket is vague?

It comes back to you with what’s missing. AoTwin doesn’t guess. Add the missing part and assign it back.

  • Does it follow our coding conventions?

Yes. It follows your repository’s contributor and agent instructions, like AGENTS.md, and runs your own install, typecheck, lint, test and build steps.

  • How much does it cost?

Keeping your team’s tickets in AoTwin is free. Paid plans start at $39 a month, or $32 a month billed yearly, and are counted in tickets.
